Created in 2007, the Richard G. Lugar Center for Tomorrow's Leaders at the University of Indianapolis seeks to stimulate and inspire the next generation of Indiana's public leaders. Many of Indiana's current leaders developed their leadership skills in collegiate student government. In an effort to encourage and support student government leaders, the Lugar Center hosted its inaugural Indiana Collegiate Student Government Conference on Saturday, May 16, 2009.
Participants
The 2009-2010 Student Government Executive Board, including the student body president, vice-president(s), treasurer, secretary, or their equivalents, from all Indiana four-year colleges and universities were invited to participate.
Student Government Advisors were welcome, but not required, to attend.
What Participants Gained
Participants networked with Indiana's college student government leaders and had an opportunity to continue to connect after the Conference.
Participants discovered how developing student government leadership skills in college can translate into potential career paths.
Participants learned about the relationship between ethics and effective student government leadership.
Participants developed skills that create successful leaders.

The schedule for the day included a combination of speakers and choices of interactive workshops.
